With a remarkable career of over 20 years, having performed over 27,000 procedures on his patients and currently performing more than 20 heart procedures weekly across the public and private sectors, Dr Gunalingam offers a wealth of experience and knowledge.
The breadth and volume of Dr Gunalingam’s experience gives his patients and referrers the confidence that he has the experience to assess the risk of procedures appropriately and has practised hand skills that minimise complications for patients on the operating table.

Bringing St Vincent's Expertise to the Coast
Dr Gunalingam’s extensive expertise is further demonstrated by his appointment as a cardiologist on staff at the prestigious St Vincent’s Hospital, the only dedicated heart transplant centre in New South Wales. In fact, the first successful Heart Transplant Procedure in Australia was performed by Dr Victor Chang at St Vincent’s Hospital in 1984. The most complex surgeries are performed at St Vincent’s, where the sickest cardiac patients are treated. This experience is now accessible locally as Dr Gunalingam performs many advanced cardiac procedures on the Central Coast for his patients. Our team at Gunalingam Cardiology strive for the best outcomes for their patients, ensuring that the specialised skills from St Vincent’s are now accessible to the Central Coast community.
